Vincent N. Buttaci
Mr. Buttaci founded the firm as Buttaci & Associates, LLC in October 2004, as a health law boutique catering specifically to licensed health care providers and their practices.
Today, he continues to counsel providers, practices and facilities on a variety of complex legal, regulatory and institutional issues. These services include: handling general corporate structure issues, including the formation, reorganization, and/or dissolution of healthcare practices and other provider-related entities; representing clients in the organization, licensure, acquisition and/or sale of licensed and/or accredited healthcare facilities including: ambulatory surgery centers, skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health and substance abuse treatment facilities, urgent care centers, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and office based surgical practices; representing clients before state healthcare licensing boards and agencies; and proactively advising clients on issues of regulatory compliance and the prevention of fraud and abuse.
Mr. Buttaci prides himself on developing strategies to deal with the current regulatory climate and anticipating future policy changes. To that end, he relies on his extensive knowledge of provider reimbursement, fraud and abuse, licensing requirements, managed care regulations and relationships, patient confidentiality and treatment issues and corporate compliance.
Mr. Buttaci’s practice includes a special emphasis on representing health care providers and group practices in post-payment actions and fraud investigations instituted by both governmental agencies and private insurance carriers. In this respect, Mr. Buttaci has handled matters related to electro-diagnostic testing, improper business structures, physician self-referrals, medical necessity, and improper coding and claim submissions. Mr. Buttaci draws on his experience in these matters to effectively counsel his clients on issues of health care compliance.
Mr. Buttaci serves General Counsel to the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey (APTANJ) and has been named a “Rising Star” in Health Law by New Jersey Super Lawyers in each year from 2012 to 2014. Mr. Buttaci was also the recipient of the International Chiropractic Association’s 2014 Dr. Chester A. Wilk Award for Courageous Legal Action on Behalf of the Chiropractic Profession.
